On Tuesday afternoon, the Floyd County Police Department held a meeting to discuss the increase in recent fatal/serious vehicle crashes, in hopes of educating the community on how to avoid more from occurring.
FCPD Sgt, Chris Fincher, discussed the contributing factors and the three primary causes for crashes that are at the heart of the matter in the video above.
There have been 1,564 crashes so far in 2021.
228 of those have had injuries and there have been 13 fatalities.
The top five roads for incidents include Alabama Highway, Turner McCall Boulevard, the connector, Martha Berry Highway, and New Calhoun Highway.
Most of the accidents have involved drivers between 16 and 24.
