Man accused of renting equipment from Home Depot and then selling it

A Lithonia man was booked into the Floyd County Jail over the weekend on charges of theft by taking a motor vehicle, theft by conversion, and theft by deception.

According to Floyd County Jail records and an arrest warrant:

33-year old Kerry Aston Howard rented a Ford T250 flatbed truck and a JLG 50-foot boom lift from Home Depot on Hicks Drive in July.

Not only did Howard not return the truck and boom lift, he sold them to another individual for $10,000.

Reports: Man arrested after causing a disturbance at restaurant

A 32-year-old Rome man was arrested over the weekend on charges of felony obstruction and simple battery against a police officer.

According to Floyd County Jail records and a Rome Police Department report:

David Robert Masters had been putting his hands on employees and disturbing customers at Chick-fil-A on Shorter Avenue and then fled on foot from police.

He then ran out into the roadway, nearly getting hit by multiple vehicles.

During his arrest, Masters, who appeared to be under the influence of narcotics, kicked one of the officers.

He is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction, disorderly conduct, pedestrian under the influence, and pedestrian in the roadway.

Inmate at Floyd County Jail facing additional charges

An inmate is accused of trying to hit a jail officer on Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

57-year-old Stephon Dakota Chambers kneed the officer in the groin during the ensuing altercation.

Chambers, who has been in jail since his arrest on September 7 for a probation violation, is now charged with felony obstruction, simple battery against a law enforcement officer, and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.
