What to expect from Hurricane Helene in Northwest GA

The effects of Hurricane Helene are expected to reach the local area early tomorrow morning, bringing potentially dangerous weather conditions.

Currently a Category 3 hurricane, Helene is projected to make landfall in Florida around 7 PM before moving inland on a northern path.

Floyd County Emergency Management has reported that residents in Floyd County should prepare for gusty winds and heavy rainfall, with 40 to 60 mph wind gusts anticipated between 5 AM and 8 AM.

The storm could bring over 4 inches of rain, heightening the risk of flash flooding, falling trees, and widespread power outages.

Local emergency management officials urge the public to take precautions, avoid unnecessary travel, and remain alert for changing weather conditions as the storm moves closer.
