Centre Police Department (press release) –
A Honduran man, who was residing in Cherokee County Alabama, has been arrested by the Centre Police Department in reference to Burglary 2nd and Attempted Rape 1st Charges.
Back on July 27th, the Centre Police Department received a call for service at a residence within the city limits of Centre where a Hispanic male was the suspect in a burglary and attempted rape of a woman.
Two women were inside the home when the attack happened and were able to fight off the suspect causing him to flee from the residence.
Centre units along with CCSO units arrived at the scene where the area was canvased, but the suspect was not found. Evidence was left behind at the scene and collected by law enforcement.
The Hispanic male was later identified as Marvin Osmar Chavez Canales, from Honduras.
Marvin Osmar Chavez Canales was also a neighbour of the victim and was found at his residence at a later date where he was interviewed and subsequently arrested for Burglary 2nd and Attempted Rape 1st.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) have also been notified of the arrest.
