Floyd County public safety and other employees are getting a pay raise.

On Tuesday, the Floyd County Commission approved a pay plan adjustment which was reviewed and discussed at the Administrative Services Committee meeting on August 5, according to Floyd County Manager Jamie McCord.

“It will affect a total of 691 employees,” McCord said. “509 full-time employees, 15 permanent part-time, and 167 certified law enforcement where the certification is required by the position. It will be an across-the-board increase of $2,600 for all employees and an additional $5,500 for law enforcement employees, again with certification required by the position. The permanent part-time will actually be 50%, as we have done in the past, of the $2,600. So, 15 permanent part-time will be $1,300 across the board.

The new pay plan is set to go into effect on September 1.

“We will get our pay grade 6 at minimum pay to $15 per hour and it will get our pay grade 12 law enforcement at $52,000 to match surrounding agencies and down the street,” McCord added.
