Ward 1 Rome City Commissioner Sundai Stevenson qualified Thursday to seek another term.
Stevenson, who is also Rome’s current mayor, is joined by another Ward 1 incumbent Jim Bojo, who qualified Monday, as well as businessman Harry Brock and community activist Charles Love. The top three voter-getters on November 7 will be elected.
There are also four candidates seeking three seats in Ward Three. They are incumbents Bonny Askew, Bill Collins, and Craig McDaniel, along with local developer Wayne Robinson.
The qualifying fee is $360, which is 3% of a commissioner’s $12,000 salary. The salary is currently $8,400 but a raise approved in 2022 takes effect in January.
In Cave Spring, Incumbent Tim Lindsey qualified for his seat on Post 1 alongside a challenger, former Cave Spring Mayor Dennis Shoaf. Nancy Fricks qualified for Post 2, currently held by incumbent Joyce Mink.Â
The qualifying fee is $45.
Friday is the last day for qualifying in the city clerk’s office at Rome City Hall and at Cave Spring City Hall.
