Two accused of stealing liquid morphine during burglary
Two Chattooga County Men have been arrested and charged in connection with a burglary on Old Dalton Road in Rome, in which a powerful pain killer was stolen.
According to the arrest warrants:
38-year-old Luke Cody Campbell of Summerville and 38-year-old Jeffrey Neal Cameron of Trion entered the residence on July 19 and stole liquid morphine.
The two men had also placed items by the door of the home, apparently intending to come back later and steal them.
Campbell and Cameron are charged with 1st-degree burglary, theft by taking and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
Man charged in 2014 burglary
A 28-year-old man from Oakland Park, Florida has been arrested in connection with a residential burglary on Kingston Highway in Floyd County that occurred back in July of 2014.
According to the arrest warrant:
Gregory Montel Taylor forced his way into the home and took multiple pieces of jewelry and firearms.
Taylor is charged with 1st-degree burglary.
Alleged gang member accused of having drugs at prison
An alleged member of the Aryan Brotherhood criminal street gang is facing charges dating back to June 2021 while he was incarcerated at the Floyd County Prison.
According to the arrest warrant:
37-year-old James Thorpe Easterling IV was found in possession of 33.8 grams of suspected marijuana in 10 individual packages, and 6.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine in five individual packages during a pat down conducted by officers following an altercation outside of a dorm at the prison.
Easterling is charged with participation in criminal street gang activity, possession of items prohibited for inmates, and possession of controlled substances or marijuana with the intent to distribute.
Man charged with forgery
A 22-year-old Rome man is facing a 1st-degree forgery charge following a traffic stop on Martha Berry Boulevard at West 10th Street Monday.
According to Floyd County Jail records:
Jaderrius Armand Tae Cotton altered his auto insurance card by changing the vehicle identification number in an attempt to make it look like his vehicle had insurance.
He presented the altered card to the officer during the traffic stop.
Cotton is additionally charged with driving without insurance and speeding.
