Man charged with aggravated assault, child cruelty
A 29-year-old Rome man has been arrested on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.
According to the warrant:
James Matthew Lawrence used a knife offensively against another person during an argument back on July 10 at a residence on Dean Avenue.
The assault occurred in the presence of a child, resulting in an additional charge of 3rd-degree cruelty to children.
Atlanta man facing identity theft charges in Floyd County
An Atlanta man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on a felony identity theft charge.
According to the arrest warrant:
36-year-old Gerard Demone Walker took the personal identification of a Silver Creek man and then forged a check, signing the victim’s name to it with a memo stating it was for painting services.
The victim had attempted to mail the check to a hardware store but somehow it was intercepted.
Walker is also charged with identity fraud and 4th-degree forgery.
