A Rome teenager has been arrested in connection with a smash-and-grab burglary at a local hardware store.
According to the arrest warrant:
17-year-old Ladarius Cardale Cunningham was one of six suspects who entered Elder’s Ace Hardware on Shorter Avenue by shattering the glass of the front door.
The suspects, all of which are believed to be minors, took turns attempting to gain entry to the gun counter to steal handguns without success.
The suspects also attempted to cut a cable that secured long guns to the wall.
Damage to the three gun counters and the front door was estimated at $16,000.
The incident occurred during the early morning hours of July 4 and was the second time the store had been broken into.
The first incident occurred in February.
