Man jailed for aggravated assault

A Rome man was arrested Tuesday at his Dugger Drive residence on a felony warrant charging him with aggravated assault.

According to the warrant:

26-year-old Walter Alfred Brookshire III grabbed a woman by the throat in a chokehold in an attempt to strangle her.

The alleged assault left the victim with a red mark on her neck and throat.

The incident occurred on Apr. 7.

Man charged with meth possession

A 36-year-old West Rome man is facing drug charges following his arrest on Old Airport Road Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Scot Christopher Smith Jr. was found with a glass smoking device containing suspected methamphetamine residue.

Smith is charged with possession of meth and possession of drug-related objects.

Report: Woman signed another’s name to traffic citation

A Dalton woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Tuesday on charges of 1st-degree forgery, false statements, and writings, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and driving without insurance.

According to jail records and arrest warrants:

26-year-old Keosha Janee Trotter signed someone else’s name to a citation during a traffic stop on North Broad Street in October of 2018.

Man arrested for trespassing reportedly found with someone else’s credit card

A 34-year-old Rome man was arrested Tuesday on charges of financial transaction card theft and criminal trespass.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Cody Allan Powers was at a business on Shorter Avenue after previously being banned from the property.

He was then found in possession of a mislaid credit card belonging to someone else.

Man accused of hitting bus driver in the face

A 52-year-old East Rome man has been arrested in connection with an incident that occurred back in October at the Riverbend Drive bus stop.

According to the arrest warrant:

James Franklin Wade hit a bus driver in the face.

The incident occurred as the victim was operating a Rome Transit Department bus.

The driver said he was hit so hard that it “rang his bell” and caused him to see stars.

The victim was taken to the employee wellness center for treatment of a possible concussion.

Wade is charged with a misdemeanor count of battery in a public transport station or vehicle.
