Report: Man fled from state troopers at more than 107 mph

A 23-year-old Rome man is accused of fleeing from Georgia State Troopers in the area of Alabama Highway and Highway 101 Tuesday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

A trooper attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Michael Damian McBurnett for going 90 in a 55-mile-per-hour zone.

McBurnett’s vehicle reached speeds of up to 107 miles per hour, illegally passing several other vehicles.

McBurnett is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, speeding, reckless driving, failure to maintain a lane, and passing on the shoulder of the roadway.

Woman accused of stealing vehicle, gun

A stolen vehicle lands a 49-year-old homeless woman behind bars.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Brandi Nicole Ayers took a 2014 Honda Accord valued at $17,000.

She also allegedly took a Smith and Wesson gun belonging to the victim.

Ayers is charged with felony counts of theft by receiving stolen property and theft by taking.

More charges for burglary suspect

A Rome man who was jailed in February in connection with multiple burglaries is now accused of causing more than $1,000 in damage to 4-wheeler

According to Floyd County Jail records:

36-year-old Joshua Ray Bannister took the Honda 4-wheeler and damaged the ignition, the front-end tires, and the winch area.

Traffic stop leads to drug charges

A Rome man is facing multiple charges following a traffic stop at Cherokee Street and Hardy Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Devion Tremaine Neal was found with a stolen gun and more than an ounce of marijuana during a search of his vehicle.

Neal is charged with theft by receiving stolen property, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of marijuana, driving an unregistered vehicle, driving with a suspended or revoked license, and a parole violation.

Man arrested for drugs on Shorter Avenue

A traffic stop on Shorter Avenue Tuesday resulted in the arrest of a Rome man on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

26-year-old Clarence Cornelius Neal Jr. has more than an ounce of marijuana packaged for resale, along with digital scales and packaging materials.

Neal is charged with felony counts of possession of marijuana and possession with the intent to distribute, along with a misdemeanor count of possession of drug-related objects.

Calhoun woman arrested for drug possession in Rome

A traffic stop for a window tint violation on Highway 411 at Chulio Road in Rome Tuesday ended with the arrest of a Calhoun woman on drug charges.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

34-year-old Jenna Baigh Hopper had a window tint of 20% and was in possession of several alprazolam and clonazepam pills not in the original container.

Hopper is charged with possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drugs not in the original container, and possession of drug-related objects.
