STAFF REPORTS
Hospitals are seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases, accounting for 10% of current hospitalizations.
Dr. Gary Voccio, health director for the Northwest Health District, did have some encouraging news about the BA 5 variant.
“It appears as though the vaccine, at least in one medical report, does demonstrate that the boosters are effective against the BA 5.”
Dr. Voccio also says that a new vaccine could be available soon.
“We are hoping that in September, we are going to have a bivalent or a new vaccine that is going to be effective against the original COVID virus, (SARS CoV-2) and the BA 4 and BA 5.”
