STAFF REPORTS
Negotiations regarding how local sales tax revenues will be divided between Floyd County, the City of Rome, and Cave Spring continued this week with no deal reached.
State law requires the communities to renegotiate the formula every 10 years.
Floyd County currently receives 56.5%, Rome 41.7%, and Cave Spring 1.8%.
According to a Facebook post from the City of Rome, both they and Floyd County have now made their pitches for a larger slice of the sales tax pie while Cave Spring hopes to hold on to their current share.
A deal must be reached by the end of August or the matter will go to an arbitration process.
