Only a minor injury reported after vehicle driven by 15-year old flips

An underage driver was lucky to escape serious injury in a rollover crash on Redmond Circle at Mathis Drive Tuesday evening.

According to a Rome Police Department report:

A 2012 Mazda 3 driven by a 21-year-old Cartersville man was northbound and turned left, striking a 2024 Toyota Tacoma, driven by a 15-year-old from Rome.

The impact caused the Tacoma to flip several times.

The teenager was checked at the scene by EMS but refused transport tto he hospital.

He may have briefly lost consciousness when the truck flipped.

The teen was cited for a limited permit violation.

The driver of the Mazda, who was not hurt, was cited for failure to yield while turning left.

A 40-year old man and a 9-year old girl were riding in the Mazda.

They were not injured.
