Rome High School students outperformed public school students in Georgia and across the nation on the SAT according to a release from the Georgia Department of Education.
Rome High School students in the class of 2024 scored an overall mean score of 1064 which is 34 points above the state mean of 1030 and 69 points higher than the national average of 995.
They also scored above both state and national averages on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) and math portions of the test. Rome City Schools students recorded a mean score of 538 on ERW and a mean score of 526 on the math portion.
Georgia’s public school class of 2024 recorded a mean score of 527 on the Evidence-Based Reading and Writing (ERW) portion of the assessment, and a mean score of 503 on the math portion. That’s compared to averages of 507 and 488, respectively, for students in the nation’s public schools.
Rome City Schools ranks as the 22nd highest-scoring district in the state. That is out of 170 districts with at least 15 students taking the test.
“We are proud of our students for continuing to work hard and topping both the state and national average scores on the SAT,” Rome High Principal Parke Wilkinson says. “This is not an easy test. It’s a testament to our teachers for helping prepare our students and our students for working hard to achieve these results.”
