The Heart of the Community Foundation Board of Governors is seeking nominations for the 2025 Heart of the Community Awards of Honor. The awards seek to recognize individuals in Rome and Floyd County who have worked tirelessly to improve our community through outstanding volunteerism. The deadline for nominations is October 26, 2024.
The awards committee is searching for individuals who have given of their time and talents to make our community a better place through selfless dedication to community service, in one of four nomination categories. Board of Governors Award nominees should be individuals who have exhibited a lifetime of outstanding community service. Award of Honor nominees should exhibit outstanding volunteerism, beyond the scope of their job duties. Young Heart Award nominees should be young adults aged thirty-five or younger who exhibit outstanding volunteerism. (Exceptional applications for individuals under the age of 21 may be considered). Business Award nominees must have been in business for a minimum of five years and exhibit outstanding service to our community that is beyond the scope of their business. (The Young Heart Award and the Business Award are not guaranteed to be awarded each year. All awards are presented at the discretion of the awards committee).
“In order for us to continue our longstanding tradition of honoring individuals from Rome and Floyd Couty, we need the support of our community to nominate deserving individuals who have touched the lives of others in impactful ways,” said Andrea Pitts with the Heart of the Community Foundation. “There are countless volunteers in our community who do incredible work every day, many of them working behind the scenes, avoiding the spotlight. For our Board to be able to recognize these amazing volunteers, someone must first nominate them.”
Nomination forms are available on the Heart of the Community website at www.TheHeartofTheCommunity.org and on the Heart of the Community Facebook page. New this year, nominations may also be submitted online through a digital JotForm application: 2025 Awards of Honor (jotform.com)
The 2025 award recipients will be selected by an anonymous committee in November and announced to the public in December.
Recipients will be honored at the 39th annual Heart of the Community Awards of Honor black-tie gala on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at The Forum River Center in downtown Rome.
