Georgia gas prices increased slightly compared to a week ago.
The statewide average is now $3.32 per gallon for regular unleaded gasoline, which is a penny more than a week ago.
That is also 1 cent more than a month ago, and 8 cents more than this time last year.
It costs drivers an average price of $49.80 to fill a 15-gallon tank of regular gasoline. Georgians are now paying $1.20 more to fill up at the pump compared to a year ago.
“Fuel charges experienced a humble hike, in the wake of the July 4th festivities,” said Montrae Waiters, AAA-The Auto Club Group spokeswoman. “The tropics are brewing, promising a hurricane season that could be one for the records. We anticipate a possible surge at the pumps if a tumultuous hurricane plunges into the heart of our refineries and if crude oil continues to rise.”
Local averages on Monday were $3.25 in Floyd County, $3.24 in Bartow County, $3.29 in Gordon County, $3.22 in Chattooga County, and $3.33 in Polk County.
