Alabama man charged with theft by taking

A Centre, Alabama man was recently booked into the Floyd County Jail on a felony warrant charging him with theft by taking.

According to the warrant:

48-year-old Phillip Keith McCollum took four vehicles from a location on Cunningham Road between Rome and Cave Spring and then sold them for scrap.

The vehicles included a 1979 Subaru, a 1973 Chevy Impala, a 1980s Buick Regal, and a 1970s Ford Galaxy with a combined value of more than $1,500.

The thefts date back to 2021, according to the warrant.

Man arrested after reportedly threatening officer

A 62-year-old homeless man was arrested Thursday on charges of terroristic threats and acts and public drunk.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Bobby Joe Barber was intoxicated in a public place at East First Street and East Third Avenue downtown.

He then threatened to run over the police officer with a car.

The threat was recorded on the officer’s body cam.

Man accused of fleeing from police, throwing marijuana into the river

A North Rome man is accused of fleeing from police.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Corey Dewayne Jones for an obscured license plate at Turner McCall Boulevard and Riverside Parkway.

Jones fled, passing in the turn lane and nearly colliding with another vehicle, before stopping on a bridge where he threw several bags of marijuana into the river.

He also refused to comply with police commands to show his hands and get on the ground.

Jones is charged with fleeing or attempting to elude, tampering with evidence, obstruction, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, and display of license plates.

Two arrested on drug charges

Two Rome residents were arrested during a traffic stop on Flannery Street Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

32-year-old Tevin Jamar Wilson and 29-year-old Jackiera Christenee Brown were both passengers in the vehicle stopped for a broken tail light.

MDMA pills and a firearm were located underneath Wilson’s seat.

He is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and obstruction for refusing to give his identity.

Brown was found with MDMA, THC oil, a vape, and marijuana.

She also interfered when the officer was attempting to put another person into the patrol vehicle.

Brown is charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and obstruction.

Three arrested on drug charges

Three men were arrested at a mobile home park off Shorter Avenue on drug charges Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

28-year-old Zachariah Montrell Watkins, 28-year-old Therain Demond Daniel, and 31-year-old Titus Dewayne Daniel Jr. were found with psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, digital scales, baggies, and packaging materials.

They are all charged with possession of a Schedule I controlled substance, possession with the intent to distribute, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

Titus Daniel was charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and contempt of court.

Man facing drug charges

A 37-year-old North Rome man was arrested following a two-vehicle crash on Turner McCall Boulevard Thursday.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

William Felton Williams failed to yield while turning out of a private lot and struck a vehicle that was in the center turn lane.

Police then found suspected methamphetamine and a small amount of marijuana.

Williams is charged with possession of meth, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, and vehicle entering the roadway.

Man charged with meth possession

Rome-Floyd Metro Task Force officers arrested a Rome man Thursday following the execution of a search warrant at a home on Melton Avenue.

According to Floyd County Jail records:

Officers seized less than 28 grams of methamphetamine, less than an ounce of marijuana, and a digital scale.

45-year-old Jimmy Dale Guice is charged with possession of meth, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects.
