It was a deadly holiday weekend on Northwest Georgia Roadways with fatal crashes reported by the Calhoun and Cartersville Posts of the Georgia State Patrol.
State troopers responded to a crash Sunday evening at around 11:30 p.m. on Henderson Bend Road in Calhoun.
According to the GSP:
A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound, and a 2021 Chevy Tahoe was traveling north.
The motorcyclist, 26-year old Matthew Vanderheiden of Beaverton, Oregon, failed to maintain the lane of travel and entered into the path of the Tahoe.
Vanderheiden was ejected from the motorcycle and was pronounced dead.
On Saturday, state troopers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Rudy York Road in Bartow County.
According to the preliminary investigation, A GMC Sierra left the roadway, and overturned, ejecting the driver.
The driver was pronounced dead at Piedmont Cartersville Medical Center.
Another fatal wreck was reported Monday by the Emerson Police Department.
