Georgia State Patrol shared the following information with WRGA News regarding a major car accident that occurred in Gordon County on Thursday morning:
On January 25th, at approximately 8:30 AM, Troopers responded to a two-vehicle, head-on collision on GA 53 at Old Fairmount Road.
Both vehicles were engulfed in flames when first responders arrived on the scene.
Both drivers were out of their vehicles and seriously injured.
A 51-year-old driver of a Ford F-150 was traveling west on GA 53 and a 39-year-old driver of a GMC Sierra was traveling east on GA 53. Both vehicles collided head-on.
GA 53 remained closed for approximately two hours.
The Georgia State Patrol added that the crash is still under investigation.
