Friday morning the Hospitality House for Women hosted the 16th annual “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event in downtown Rome’s Rotary Plaza.
A crowd gathered to cheer on a sponsored Men’s high heel fundraising competition to support and advocate for domestic violence victims in Northwest Georgia.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month; According to the Hospitality House for Women, intimate partner violence impacts 1 in 3 women in the US, and 3 out of 4 Americans know a survivor of domestic violence.
Hospitality House stated that” Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” seeks to shed light on the fact that you can never understand a person’s situation until you’ve walked in their shoes.
“Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” ended with a short march on Broadstreet in which the winner of the fundraiser competition was the grand marshal.
