In March 2023, Sheriff’s detectives initiated an investigation into an organized drug trafficking operation in and about Gordon County involving methamphetamines, opiates, and prescription narcotics.
The operation involved persons in Resaca, Newtown, Oostanaula, and other communities.
During the course of the 5-month investigation, detectives and other deputy sheriffs executed seven search warrants, conducted two probationary searches, a number of vehicle stops/searches, as well gathering large amounts of documented communications and electronic evidence via data extraction from electronic communications devices.
Many witnesses were interviewed, and many hours of surveillance, both physical and electronic, were involved.
As a result of this investigation, six defendants have been arrested and charged with a variety of drug-related and conspiracy offenses:
