Paralympians and wheelchair athletes will be in Rome and Cedartown Thursday, preparing to race the fastest 5K course in the world.
The athletes will be participating in a training camp on the Darlington School campus Thursday morning from 7 a.m. until 10 a.m.
Then, the 5K road race will begin at 6 p.m. at Peek Forrest Park in Cedartown.
An inaugural Hall of Fame induction will be held immediately after the race.
Paralympic medalist and ESPY winner Krige Schabort, local pastor Dave Grove, and community leaders started the Cedartown Training Camp and 5K Road Race in 2000.
The camp gives international athletes a place to practice and compete in other major U.S. racing events.
