Caleb McClure caught a longnose gar on June 24, weighing 27 lb, 4 oz (59 5/8″), making it just a few pounds shy of the state record and smashing the previous Allatoona Lake record by 15 pounds.
Lake and river records are maintained by GON and can be found HERE.
Additionally, the fish likely represents the largest longnose gar ever documented by DNR on Allatoona, eclipsing a 24-pounder captured during gillnet sampling in the fall of 2021.
