Staff Reports –
It was standing room only at Wednesday’s called Rome City School Board meeting where the board voted unanimously to hire Dr. Eric Holland as the next superintendent of Rome City Schools.
Dr. Holland, an educator with 23 years of experience, most recently served as principal of Rome High School and Marietta High School.
On August 16, former Rome High Principal Dr. Holland was named the sole finalist for the superintendent’s job.
Georgia law requires that persons considered for employment as executive head of a government agency, including superintendents of schools, must be named as finalists for a period of 14 days prior to a final vote to hire that individual.
Dr. Holland replaces former superintendent Louis Byars who retired on May 31 after serving in the role for five years.
