The Rome City Board of Education has voted to accept a request from Rome High Principal Dr. Eric Holland to be released from his contract so he can accept a position in another school district.
Applications for the Rome High School principal position will begin to be accepted today.
The application will be posted on the teachgeorgia.org website.
The school board also approved the hiring of Alyson Lansdell for assistant principal of Rome High School during their July school board meeting.
Lansdell holds a bachelor’s degree from Berry College in French and Secondary Education. She also holds an M. Ed. in Middle Grades Education and an Ed. S. in Education Leadership from Berry College. Her certifications include Education Leadership, Tier II, French P-12, ESOL K-12, Middle Grades Language Arts and Social Studies in grades 4-8, and Teacher Support Specialist.
She began her career in education in the Polk County School system as a French and ESOL educator. Lansdell also served the Floyd County School system as a school administrator and in Bartow County Schools as an ESOL educator for grades K-5.
The new RHS AP brings to Rome High School experience in CTAE learning and a strong background in dual enrollment programs. She also has extensive knowledge of how to use PowerSchool to communicate with parents and stakeholders, online learning expertise, and she is a leader in the professional learning community.
