On Tuesday night a large crowd gathered to celebrate and honor a local World War II Veteran, Howard Touchstone, for his 97th Birthday celebration at the Cherokee Masonic Lodge #66.
Back in December of 2021, The Masons of the 7th district of Georgia banded together to help raise money for Mr. Touchstone and his Daughter Gloria to return to Hawaii for the 80th Anniversary of the Bombing of Pearl Harbor.
The 97-year-old veteran joined the United States Navy Hospital Corpsmen at the age of 18 back in 1943.
In the video above, Mr. Touchstone spoke with us about his time in the Navy spent stationed in Hawaii, and how his unit wondered if they were going to invade mainland Japan…
