A Rome man is facing multiple charges following a high-speed chase Saturday in Polk County.
According to the Polk County Police Department, a Ford Fusion driven by 23-year-old Brian Tinch was clocked going 102 in a 65-mile-per-hour zone on Highway 278.
Officers attempted a traffic stop but Tinch fled towards Rockmart.
The vehicle continued to maintain speeds of over 120mph and continued to drive in a reckless manner.
As the vehicle approached the intersection of Highway 278 and Highway 113, Tinch lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the wood-line near the intersection.
The engine of the vehicle caught on fire but was quickly put out by officers.
Tinch was extricated from the vehicle, transported to Polk Medical Center, and then to jail.
He is charged with:
– Speeding in Excess of Maximum Limits (M)
– Reckless Driving (M)
– Fleeing / Attempting to Elude (M)
– Failure to Maintain Lane (M)
– Driving without a Valid License (M)
– False Name & Date of Birth (M
