On Monday morning school resource officers with the Floyd County Police Department gave awards to four Floyd County Schools seniors in honor of their character and example to others.
The students were presented with certificates and dual black and blue cords that will be worn at their upcoming graduations. Each student was nominated by their respective school based on principles of selflessness, respect, and outstanding citizenship.
Students that received the inaugural award included:
- Jefferson House of Armuchee High School (Nominated by Officer Mike Bell)
- Jasmine Pilcher of Coosa High School (Nominated by Officer Dale Johnson)
- Briggs Poyner of Model High School (Nominated by Officer Ginger Shelly)
- Rachel Gilreath of Pepperell High School (Nominated by Officer Jim McCormick)
The Floyd County Police Department stated that they have a vision to look into the possibility of annual scholarships for future award-winning students, and they also hope to include university or technical college students as well.
