(Via WBHF Radio) Bartow County deputies booked 28-year-old Jeffery Calvin Wheeler of Adairsville into the jail on December 29th for multiple charges, including two counts of aggravated assault resulting in strangulation. They also charged him with one count of cruelty to a child in the first degree, three counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, and two counts of felony terroristic threats and acts.
At his residence on Wesley Mill Drive on December 28th, Wheeler first reportedly grabbed both of his wife’s wrists and would not let go. She bit him on the chest to make him release her. He then allegedly placed his hands around her neck and squeezed. The wife said she was able to get a hand between one of his to release his grip.
Wheeler then reportedly confronted a juvenile witness and started squeezing her neck before picking her up by her neck and throwing her onto a couch.
The wife tried to take two other children before leaving with the other victim, but Wheeler allegedly said he would kill them if they tried to take the other two kids. The two alleged victims left the residence, but his wife returned to retrieve gift cards to stay at a motel. She said Wheeler then pointed a pistol at her, so she left again.
Wheeler is out on a $35,000 bond.
