On Monday afternoon Rome Police officers closed down the roads near Second Avenue after they received a call of a suspicious person downtown around West 1st street.
According to the call, a male subject had apparently abandoned his vehicle behind or near Tortaco and began banging on windows of downtown businesses.
A Rome Police officer located the male, who allegedly stated that he had dynamite in his vehicle, and the area was closed down. The Floyd County Bomb Squad arrived at the scene and cleared the vehicle. No weapons or dynamite were located.
No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
According to a press release from the Rome Police Department, the male subject will be charged with Terroristic Threats.
