Friday December 4, 2020, The Salvation Army of Rome will have a canned food drive entitled “Stock Our Shelves / SOS.”
This will be a drive through collection at our main buildings located between East First Avenue and East Second Avenue. It will be between 7:30 am and 1:30 pm on Friday.
People can drive in next to Bert Brooks Tire and drive around just like they are making a donation to the Family Store.
Volunteers will be there to collect donations and the donor can then drive back out onto 2nd Avenue.
Lieutenant Paula Blevins of the Rome Salvation Army tells us more: “In the past month, we have been placing containers at many local schools and other locations for canned food collections. This year our schools are not able to have any field trips (due to COVID-19) and thus are not able to transport kids to the food drive location.”
“Of course, if anyone cannot come make their canned food donation on Friday December 4, they can drop off their donation anytime Monday through Friday from 8:30 to 3:00. We also accept financial donations if someone cannot go to the store.”
“We are very grateful for the past support of the residents of Rome and Floyd County, and we look forward to and appreciate the support this year with “Stock our Shelves.”
