(Via WZQZ) After months of reporting no residents with COVID-19, the reality that the coronavirus pandemic has made its way to Chattooga County became more real with Oakview Health and Rehabilitation having to make the difficult calls to family members after numerous residents tested positive for COVID-19.
Oakview Director Reno Lambert said on Monday that several residents had tested positive.
The long term care facility had several staff members that had tested positive, but had been able to keep any resident cases at bay for several months.
Lambert said that according to their numbers on Tuesday afternoon, thirty-four residents were positive and currently there were nine staff members who had tested positive recently for a cumulative total of fourteen workers who have tested positive.
Lambert said that he was grateful for the employees at Oakview, saying “They have really stepped up and pulled together to help out” with the recent staffing shortages due to COVID-19.
