Deputies have apprehended Tad Abernathy who escaped Monday evening from a work detail at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
He was taken into custody around 7:30 p.m. (Tuesday) evening at a residence near Sand Rock.
Abernathy is now charged with Escape 2nd, in addition to his other pending charges.
*PREVIOUSLY: Inmate Tad Abernathy fled from a work detail at around 6:30pm Monday and was last seen running on South River Street in Centre.
Abernathy, age 39 and a resident of Sand Rock was booked into jail on May 14th on charges of Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree and Attempting to Elude – in addition to, Failure to Appear, on prior charges of Certain Persons Forbidden to Possess a Pistol; Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance (two counts); the Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree; along with Tampering with Physical Evidence and Receiving Stolen property 1st Degree.
