(Via WEIS Radio) At approximately 10:00am Wednesday – Talladega County District Attorney Steve Giddens confirmed that a “person of interest” was arrested in Cherokee County in connection with a triple homicide that took place Tuesday night in Munford.
According to the Anniston Star, Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy, on Wednesday morning, identified the three victims as Holli Christina Durham, age 36, and her twin sons – Baron Joseph and Branson William Durham, both age 13.
The cause of death appeared to be from stab wounds, and they were found in the residence, located on Roy Lackey Lane.
Talladega Sheriff Jimmy Kilgore said investigators were looking for a third sibling, a sixteen year old, who was missing and considered a “person of interest” in the case – he stresses at this point, the teen is just a “person of interest” and the investigation is on-going.
WEIS Radio News learned that a driver in a high-speed pursuit was taken into custody after being stopped just inside the Cherokee County line, near the intersection of Gilley Road and County Road 71 at approximately 7:55am.
Sheriff Jeff Shaver contacted WEIS Radio around 11:30 Wednesday morning to inform us of the arrest saying only that the individual taken into custody by Investigator Jeremy Stepps was “a ‘person of interest’ in connection with the Munford case.”
Update 4:20 PM:
Talladega County District Attorney Steve Giddens confirmed that 16 Landon Durham was arrested in Cherokee County in connection with a triple homicide that took place Tuesday night in Munford.
According to the Anniston Star, Talladega County Coroner Shaddix Murphy identified the three victims as Holli Christina Durham, age 36, and her twin sons – Baron Joseph and Branson William Durham, both age 13.
On Wednesday afternoon, Giddens said he believes the teen stabbed his family members to death at the residence on Roy Lackey Lane before he went to school early Tuesday morning.
Giddens said Durham is being charged as an adult in this case, but the death penalty cannot be applied since Durham is younger than 18. He would be facing life with or without parole.
Durham was taken into custody after being stopped by Cherokee County Investigator Jeremy Stepps just inside the Cherokee County line, near the intersection of Gilley Road and County Road 71 at approximately 7:55am Wednesday.
Durham is currently in the Talladega County Jail.
