Ethan Garrett –
Thursday evening participants for the City of Calhoun’s Candidate Forum gathered at the Calhoun Depot where they were presented with questions from the public.
This Forum featured two contested races that included the City Council Post #2 and The School Board post #5. The City Council post candidates include the incumbent Al Edwards and challenger Judy Peterson. The School Board Post #5 candidates include Becky Gilbert George and Don Hood.
The Questions asked for the City Council post candidates asked the candidates on how voter turnout could be increased in Calhoun, and also how they felt on the idea of Calhoun’s trash and waste services being provided for free.
The School Board post race has two candidates, but Becky Gilbert George was not in attendance at this forum leaving opposing candidate Don Hood to answer the public’s questions.
The questions for Don Hood included how he felt on the school district’s policies on out of district students, and also how he felt about putting a ban on vaping in school zones.
