Memorial Day service at fairgrounds Monday

Monday is Memorial Day, a time to remember members of the armed services who sacrificed their lives in defense of freedom.

The public is invited to a Memorial Day service presented by the Exchange Club of Rome Monday morning at 11 a.m. in the Palladium Building at the Coosa Valley Fairgrounds.

The keynote speaker will be Colonel Mark A. Viney, Chief of the Field Services Division with the Adjutant General Directorate for the United States Army in Fort Knox, Kentucky.

Music will be provided by the Exchange Brass, the Exchange Club of Rome Ensemble and the Developing Independence, Growth and Security for Adults Choir – Just As I Am.

There will be displays of military history from noon until 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Monday at the fairgrounds.

The replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier will also be on display.
