Inmate accused of trying to smuggle contraband

A former inmate at the Floyd County Prison has been charged with trying to smuggle contraband into the facility back on December 18.

According to arrest warrants, 45-year old Kelby Lee Thomas of Loganville attempted to smuggle 27.4 grams of methamphetamine and 12.5 grams of marijuana into the prison.

According to the warrant, the drugs were left at a location on Horseleg Creek Road.

Thomas is charged with items prohibited for possession by an inmate, conspiracy to violate Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act, conspiracy to commit a felony and possession of a controlled substance or marijuana.


Man charged with aggravated assault

A 42-year old Rome man was arrested Thursday on charges of aggravated assault and aggravated battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records, Timothy Lamar Waits of a Lee Street address was arrested at a location on Rebecca Street.

He is also charged with terroristic threats and acts.

No additional details concerning the arrest were available at the jail Friday morning.

Woman charged with identity fraud

A 25-year old Brookhaven, Georgia woman was booked into the Floyd County Jail Thursday on warrants charging her with four counts of identity fraud.

According to jail records, Olivia Marie Stilwell was transferred to Floyd County from the Atlanta City Detention Center to face the local charges.
