The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has concluded their investigation into the death of an infant last year and have filed charges against the mother and her boyfriend.
According to a press release by the Paulding County Sheriff’s office; deputies responded to a call of an unconscious infant in May of last year.
The child was transported to Wellstar Paulding hospital where she was later pronounced dead.
The GBI conducted a routine autopsy of the infant and found the child passed away from blunt force trauma. The death was ruled non-accidental.
The Crimes against Children Unit in Paulding County worked with the GBI and have arrested the mother and her boyfriend.
Jason Andrew Gromer and the mother, Tanya Atkinson, have both been charged with felony murder and Felony aggravated battery.
Gromer was not the child’s father.
