Harbin Clinic’s Walk with a Doc returns April 20th

April 15, 2019---4:55 P.M.

With spring in full bloom in beautiful Northwest Georgia, Harbin Clinic is ready to kick off its Walk with a Doc program at Bridgepoint Plaza.

The free, monthly community event has drawn hundreds of people who gather at 9 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month to hear information and facts about health and wellness from Harbin Clinic physicians. Then the group stretches their legs during a 2-mile health walk along the Kingfisher Trail in Downtown Rome.

The first Walk with a Doc is on April 20th and will be led by Internal Medicine physicians, Drs. Amar and Poonam Singh. The second Walk with a Doc will be on May 18th and led by Dr. Heather Pryor of Harbin Clinic Family Medicine Cedartown. The third Walk will be on June 15th and will be led by one of Harbin’s newest physicians, Medical Oncologist Dr. Gregory Harris.

The following Walk with a Doc Dates are July 20th, August 17th, September 21st and October 19th, and the next roundup of leading physicians will be announced in early July. All are welcome at the Walks including any furry friends who want to get their steps in, too.

Dr. Mary Margaret Beauchamp, an Ear Nose & Throat physician who has been a champion of Harbin’s Walk with a Doc series says that just half an hour of walking has many health benefits, such as a reduction in heart disease risk and a decrease in depression and anxiety.

“It’s amazing what a few minutes outside can do for your health, and this event allows you to join with a group of people who are striving toward the same goal, all in the same place,” she says. “We build fellowship, share health tips and have a great time together embracing the benefits of healthy activity.”

Participants should tune into the weather forecast so they can dress appropriately for the temperature and wear comfortable, durable shoes. In the case of inclement weather, visit Harbin Clinic’s website,  Facebook, Instagram or Twitter for updates
