Report: Man assaulted woman on Dean Avenue

A Rome man was arrested early Monday morning on charges of aggravated assault, false imprisonment and sexual battery.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 57-year old Ronald Alan Koehler put his hands around the throat of the female victim and intentionally made physical contact with the victim’s intimate parts without her consent.

He also allegedly detained the woman in his Dean Avenue residence and would not allow her to leave.


Man charged with felony obstruction of officers

A Rockmart man was booked into the Floyd County Jail Sunday, accused of resisting arrest and injuring two police officers.

According to Floyd County Jail records, it all began when police were attempting to arrest 27-year old Cody James Dawson for shoplifting at the West Rome Walmart.

Dawson is accused of taking merchandise from the store and then returning it for a $37 refund.

In addition to a misdemeanor count of theft by shoplifting, Dawson is charged with felony obstruction of officers.


Trion woman charged with drug trafficking

A Trion woman initially arrested for shoplifting was also charged with trafficking methamphetamine Sunday.

According to Floyd County Jail records, 37-year old Doris Amanda Mann took jalapeno poppers, mac and cheese and marinara sauce from the deli at the West Rome Walmart and exited the store without paying.

While searching Mann during her arrest, police reported finding multiple baggies of meth as well as one Percocet tablet.

Mann was also charged with possession of meth, possession with the intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance.
