Staff reports

Two people were transported to Floyd Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries following a three-vehicle wreck on MLK Jr. Boulevard (Highway 278) at East Ellawood Avenue in Cedartown Monday morning.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a tractor without a trailer attached and a Kia Sorento were traveling westbound.

The tractor was traveling too fast for the wet roadway and was following too close when it rear-ended the Kia, which was attempting to make a left turn.

After impact, the Kia traveled into the eastbound lane and hit a tractor-trailer head-on.

The wreck closed the highway in the area for much of the day.

Trion Police Chief David Gilleland told WZQZ News that the death is still under investigation, but for now, the incident is being treated as a fatal four-wheeler accident.
Several area roads still have standing water on them and some remain closed.
