Man charged with robbery, burglary in separate incidents

A 25-year old Rome man has been arrested in connection with thefts at a couple of local businesses.

According to arrest warrants, Devunta Jamar Wood of a Tolbert Street address forcefully snatched a pocketbook from the hands of a woman as she was walking to her vehicle at Subway on Turner McCall Boulevard.

He was charged with robbery by sudden snatching and simple battery in connection with the June 23 incident.

Then on June 27, Smith reportedly went into the manager’s office at Suntan City on Riverbend Drive and took a pocketbook.

The purse and its contents were valued at $2,000.

Wood is charged with 2nd-degree burglary and theft by taking in connection with that incident.

He is also charged with misdemeanor obstruction of officers.
  

As of 5 p.m., most of the power had been restored and most traffic lights are working again.
